A Musical Level
(Inspired by Rayman Legends)

In this project, I served as the producer, leading the team through the development process. Additionally, I played an active role in shaping key design decisions and helped script some of the gameplay mechanics. Below are a few mechanics we implemented to enhance the player experience:

  1. Action Indicators: Providing clear, intuitive feedback to players was a top priority. We designed visual cues that guide players toward the correct actions at the right moments, improving immersion and control. These indicators were designed to be instantly recognizable:

    • Jump!: A bold upward arrow symbol to signify when the player should jump, offering clear, visual direction.

    • Glide!: A jetpack icon, coupled with a hold-to-charge mechanic and a progress bar, helping players understand the need to hold the button for success.

    • Attack!: A fist icon, indicating when it's time to attack, providing a direct and intuitive signal to engage in combat.

  2. Jump Walls and Trampolines: To add a platformer challenge and increase player engagement, we introduced jump walls and trampolines. These features required precise timing and interaction with the environment, keeping the movement dynamic and rewarding.

  3. Shaking Platforms: To heighten tension and player focus, we incorporated shaking platforms. As the player navigates from one platform to another, the shaking effect introduces a sense of instability, making each jump feel more intense and immersive.
